Synopsis

Remi Milligan: Lost Director is an in-depth documentary about the life, work, and mysterious disappearance of Remi Milligan, a controversial North London underground filmmaker whose low-budget, boundary-pushing horror and genre films earned him a devoted cult following. Through archival footage, unseen behind-the-scenes material, and intimate interviews with family, friends, collaborators, and critics, the film examines Milligan’s uncompromising artistic vision, his rejection of mainstream success, and the personal toll of his obsessive dedication to filmmaking. It traces his rise as a provocative outsider, the strain his work placed on his health and relationships, and the unanswered questions surrounding his sudden vanishing in 2006 at the height of his creativity, ultimately portraying his disappearance as both a tragic loss and a haunting reflection of the isolating extremes of artistic obsession.
