ABOUT THE GUEST CURATOR

Azhur Saleem is a director specializing in High-End Television (HETV) for both UK and US productions.

He began his career making short films, corporate, and educational videos before transitioning to HETV after his short film Muse caught the attention of Doctor Who producers.

Azhur directed and executive-produced AFTER THE FLOOD (2023, Quay Street for ITV) series 1 & 2. Prior to this, he directed the OUTLANDER prequel – BLOOD OF MY BLOOD (Leftbank/Starz) – and directed the final block of Neil Gaiman’s ANANSI BOYS (Red, Endor, and Amazon). Azhur has also directed episodes of DR. WHO and shot second unit on BAGHDAD CENTRAL (C4, Euston) where he was also assistant to the director.

His style of filmmaking is borne out of a love of contemporary and classic cinema and he has established himself as a dedicated and imaginative filmmaker. Diversity is key to his work and he creates work that challenges the perception of the type of stories BAME filmmakers should be creating. With a love of intelligent genres, he is unafraid to write and direct projects that entertain and still have something to say.
