HOW TO ENTER
WE SIMPLIFIED
THE ENTRY PROCESS.
JUST THREE THINGS.
No long form, no portfolio, no fee.
Submit a logline, a synopsis and three pages of your script.
That’s it.
01
ONE SENTENCE
A LOGLINE
A single sentence that captures your story. Try to make it the sentence you’d say to a stranger at a bar.
02
UP TO 300 WORDS
A SYNOPSIS
A short prose summary of the script outlining the narrative, tone and the characters who drive it.
03
ANY THREE • PDF
3 PAGES FROM YOUR SCRIPT
Any three pages of your script. Could be the opening, could be a single scene that defines the film. Pick wisely.
EVERY SCRIPT
IS READ BLIND
It keeps the focus where it should be: on the story. Submissions are anonymised before they reach the Large Format team, who select the longlist of 50.
BEFORE YOU SUBMIT
Make sure your three script pages contain no name, no contact details, no social handles (nothing that could identify you).
Entries with identifying information on the pages will be returned for re-submission. Story first.

WHO CAN APPLY • UPDATED FOR 2026
WE REMOVED THE AGE LIMIT.
In 2025, we restricted entry to filmmakers aged 18–35. We've removed that this year. Some filmmakers come to the industry later in life and we understand that. But the competition is still very much targeted at emerging voices.
THE RULE THAT MATTERS THE MOST
No more than two professional credits as a writer, director or producer on film, TV or commercials.
More than two? This competition isn’t the right fit. The programme is built for filmmakers at the start of their career.
ACCEPTED
UK-BASED FILMMAKERS
You must be based in the UK to enter and participate in the programme.
ACCEPTED
ANY GENRE
Drama, comedy, horror, documentary, animation… all welcome. The story is yours to choose.
ACCEPTED
UP TO TWO PROFESSIONAL CREDITS
No more than two professional film, TV or commercial credits as a writer, director or producer.
NOT ACCEPTED
SCRIPTS OVER 12 PAGES
We won’t read past page 12. Keep it tight.
ACCEPTED
SOLELY YOUR SCRIPT
The script must be solely written by the person applying. Co-written scripts cannot be considered.
NOT ACCEPTED
CO-WRITTEN WORK
One name on the script. If you wrote it with a partner, this isn’t the year.

THE PROGRAMME • HOW IT WORKS
FROM SCRIPT TO SCREEN,
NOT JUST SCRIPT TO SHORTLIST.
Every finalist comes out of the programme with a finished five-minute film, a network of peers, and a real understanding of how a short gets made. Here is the journey, stage by stage.

01
INITIAL SUBMISSION

Submit a title, a logline, 300-word synopsis and three pages from your script. From this, a longlist of 50 projects will be selected.

02
FULL SCRIPT SUBMISSION

Longlisted entrants will be invited to submit their full script (maximum 12 pages). From these, the final ten filmmakers will be selected.

03
NETWORKING EVENT

Finalists attend a session with industry professionals and an established director, gaining insight into developing their treatment and approach.

04
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Each finalist develops their treatment and a basic production budget for their film.

05
TABLE READ & FILMING

A selected scene from each finalist’s script is performed by professional actors and filmed in a multi-camera setup within our studio.

06
FILMMAKER PROFILE FILM

Each finalist is interviewed about their film and journey. This is combined with their filmed scene and treatment to create a short film showcasing both the filmmaker and their project.

07
AWARDS NIGHT

All ten films are screened at the final event, where the industry judging panel will select the top three filmmakers and overall winner.
