Synopsis

The Lure is a 90-second micro short that follows SHAW, a weary fisherman hoping for a quiet night at a lonely lake. We encounter our fisherman as he carefully selects a lure from a well-kept case. His choice made, he casts his line and sits back to enjoy his evening. But his peace is suddenly disrupted by an irritating fly that seems to have a vendetta against him. The winged bug makes a series of close passes that become more and more insistent until Shaw finds himself flailing wildly to dismiss it. Eventually he finds his composure and waits for his moment while the vindictive insect slows down and hovers tauntingly in front of him. Shaw takes his chance and smugly slaps the fly between his hands. He triumphantly examines the remains only to feel a sudden painful tug in one of his palms. His face drops to see a great hook embedded in the meat of his hand. Before he can process what this means, a line attached to the hook grows taught and pulls him up into the air. Below, Shaw’s open lure box spots with blood. The night falls silent.
